GOP Group Hosts “Gays Were Behind the Holocaust” Pastor
This is important in that, while this blogger can deem Scott Lively a loon (probably a correct appraisal) but this spreading of fiction as if it were history is extremely dangerous. The solution is not to silence him, but rather to add voices to the mix- add truth to the dialogue.
It is also important that we know what is being said. We have to recognize the terrain around us. At the same time, however, our progress depends not on the crazies, but on the moderates.
The republican party is flailing about trying to find a new foothold. It is sad that their attempt is to get even crazier than they were before. The conservative party could get quite strong if they found a new message of fiscal responsibility, and dumped all the ultra-rightwing  social agenda. It is a lose/lose for America to get so caught up in demonizing GLBTQ people- focusing on the Bible in a country with a desired separation of Church and State.
