Thanks for your comment Tina! You asked about the current status of PA HB 300. PA HB 300 is a legislation to expand PA’s existing nondiscrimination protections to include sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. It has strong support from the PA business community which understands this as an economic issue, but has been facing opposition from the religious community. Most, but not all opposition is based on the fear that PA HB 300 is only a stepping stone to gay marriage. The current status of the bill is that it is awaiting a vote in the full house.

Because of the opposition, some PA representatives are either against it, or remain unsure as to how they will vote on it. The single most important thing we can do is to organize meetings with state representatives to share with them our support for this legislation.

These are exactly the types of things we need to share with our legislators so that they grasp how protections like HB 300 impact real people in their districts as well as their families and friends.
