Rick Santorum for President in 2012?
The linked blog post by Michael Jone at Change.org suggests that our dear friend Rick is thinking about a run for the White House? Jones jokes, but from my perspective, Santorums connection to the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), which really is the National Organization Against Gays and Lesbians, suggests that queer equal rights will remain as a front-of-the-pack issue as long as the Republican Party continues down it’s current Far Religious Right Wrong path.
Jones has it correct that he was trounced big time, even here in a state where a majority of the state, especially the middle is extremely conservative. Still, as long as the “Let’s Turn America into a Theocracy” party stays true to that vision, he would have a following. and he is much smarter than Sarah Palin.
I remember hearing some rumors that Santorum was gay or had had some gay experiences or something, but I have no idea how true any of that is. I believe to, that some of his key staff were closeted gays. Experience seems to show that quite often those who yell loudest against Gay Rights frequently have something to hide, so if he did run, it would be a chance for any history that is being hidden to be dug up.
