In a phone call yesterday, I got the impression, that there was some confusion about what I write and who is represented- or who is speaking- on my blog. While I have a day job, and I am involved in some organizations, what I write on thomascwaters.com, is strictly my own opinions, positions, and viewpoints. I am not speaking for anyone else or any group. This is my voice.

Now, to some that distinction may not seem relevant. If I feel one way personally, can I possibly feel differently or speak differently in terms of any of my commitments or things I’m engaged in? Yes, of course. There are times when as part of an organization, I must adopt a viewpoint or perspective somewhat different than my own, or I might have to take in limiting factors that influence or restrict my opinions. So, I can hold an official position as part of an organization that is somewhat different from my own personal position.

This is easiest for me to see or explain in relation to my day job. I can be supportive of something individually, but because of budget, other resources, or other restrictions, it just isn’t feasible, so I accept and support a position that differs from my own viewpoint.

I have added a disclaimer to my “About page“, and possibly I need to add a disclaimer to every post. I hope not. I would hope my readers are capable of seeing the opinions expressed here as being my own as an individual.
