PA HB 300

Updated: March 28, 2011
This page was originally created as a resource for PA HB 300, a nondiscriminations protection bill that would have revised the PA Human Relations Commission code to include Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression. The chances of that bill passing died entirely with the close of the legislative session last year. I believe we will see the bill re-introduced again, but as of this date, it has not resurfaced.
Still, the issue of nondiscrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations remains a hot topic and central theme n the struggle for full equality for LGBTs, so I will keep the page active.
The purpose of this page is to list the myths and facts about PA HB 300, so that Pennsylvanians have a source for seeing the truth and fallacy surrounding this important piece of state-wide legislation. If you see anything expressed about HB 30o that you aren’t sure about, let me know and I’ll research the validity of the claim and post it here.
The opinions of all residents of the state are valid and meaningful- those who agree as well as those who disagree with this legislation. However, each of us deserve to form opinions based on real data instead of misleading or false information. In the end, we do not have to all agree, but we all lose, if the outcome is steered more by lies than the truth, and more by hyperbole than honesty.
