Counter Protesting NOM

Countering NOM may make Marriage Equality supporters feel good, and let them blow off a bit of righteous steam, they also totally play into meeting NOM’s needs and help them garner publicity where they might not otherwise get any. Why are we helping them be successful, even if it makes us feel good?

For me, this issue is far bigger than Minnesota politics. This “socialism” verbiage is common GOP-talk at every level of government. And, here in Pennsylvania, we have a GOP governor candidate who thinks everyone on unemployment wants to sit around and just pick up a check. He claims to find tons of open jobs in a newspaper classified, but fails to see that these pay too low of a wage for the average unemployed to live at the standard their previous job provided. So Thomas Emmer is blaming the waters and waitresses, and Tom Corbett is blaming the unemployed.

At least Madonna and Young acknowledge that the two candidates have dramatically opposing ideas, platforms and philosophies. Too bad they spend their time talking about BS instead of the real issues facing the state.

Allegheny County councilman, Matt Drozd is looking to treat the Democratic and Republican candidates for governor differently. He has introduced an ordinance to make Dan Onorato step down while running for governor, but doesn’t feel the same should apply to to the Republican challenger.
