I don’t have the time to write adequately about this at the moment, but wanted to put it out there in case you haven’t seen it.

Acklin says his party change reflects a mix of pragamatism and political philosophy. Echoing critiques he made in 2009, he says that he's found himself increasingly at odds with the GOP — largely because of its hardline position on social issues like equality for LGBT citizens. And he's found Democrats to be more accepting.

I first wrote about Kevin during the mayoral race, where I wondered if he was as socially liberal as another blogger was claiming. And then a few months ago, Kevin sought me out to meet. He wanted to get my thoughts on things in general, and we had a most awesome conversation. I was truly impressed, and I hoped at that point that we would see him seek out election again.  The city will be a better place with Kevin in there working on the committee level.
