I wish some Democrats would notice what is happening over on the Republican side of the aisle.
However, Knowles and state Sen. David Argall, R-29, said they will not personally come out in support of either Corbett or Rohrer, and will instead wait until after the May 18 primary.
They know that one of the candidates will get the nomination (and it looks pretty much like it will be Tom Corbett). They know that the real work is making sure that they win in the Fall, and any step taken now, must be made so that it helps their party in the Fall.
Too many progressives are running around trashing anyone other than their preferred candidate. Which will make it very hard to make a case for a candidate after May 18th, if that candidate wins the primary. I had one blogger tell me that if their preferred candidate doesn’t win the primary, they will be voting the Green party candidate in the Fall. Now, that is a move to assure that we keep a Conservative Republican from being elected. Not!
Turn around and look at what is happening in states where Republicans have come into power since the Obama win. Look at Virginia. Look at Arizona. Imagine what will happen here in Pennsylvania. Corbett is already a major player, wasting our tax dollars to be part of a lawsuit against health care reform.
It is an important part of democracy, that we all use the primary to support the candidate of our choice and help move our party in the direction we want to see it, but it is equally important to be making those actions with the Fall election in mind. This recognition of the Fall isn’t about what is said, it is about what isn’t said that matters.
I can honestly say that I know every one of the Democratic party candidates would be good for Pennsylvania, and do more for the issues that matter to me than either of the Republican candidates. I’m ready to work hard to elect whomever wins the primary, in the Fall.
