@JakeKaskey posted this to Facebook. Â He finds the coolest stuff. Â The data discussed in this blog post comes from the dating sight, OKCupid, a site with 3.5 million users. They decided to dig into some of the myths about gay people and see what the data in their site showed. In other words, do gay people live up to the hype or is the rhetoric all BS.
We run a massive dating site and therefore have unparalleled insight into sex and relationships. Here’s what we’ve found, in numbers and charts.
I don’t know anything about OKCupid- didn’t even know it existed, but the post and their data is very cool. Of course, I already knew the results, even if I didn’t have the data to back it up. If there is anything missing from this report, I wish they had shown some data about the age of users. Does sexual activity change as users get older? But even without that, it is both interesting and enlightening.
The down side however, is that a lack f facts has never stopped the hate mongers. Â In fact they seem most happy generating crazy ideas and making up things to prove their ideas. On the up side, especially if the data considered is mostly younger people, it demonstrates how we will continue to see change towards full acceptance of gay people over time as long as we keep the far religious right out of power.
