This is a good read, although fairly esoteric and theoretical.
Rather, it is the qualitative position of opposition to presentations of stability—an identity that problematizes the manageable limits of identity. Queer is a territory of tension, defined against the dominant narrative of white-hetero-monogamous-patriarchy, but also by an affinity with all who are marginalized, otherized, and oppressed.
I especially like the closing comment:
Queer is a total rejection of the regime of the Normal.
I don’t personally believe there is such a thing as “the Normal” as an objective descriptor. Normal is a subjective expression or evaluation, continually changing, and understood differently by individuals and groups who hold different perspectives, and agendas.
I have received a lot of feedback from friends who can’t believe how insane many of the comments on my recent posts have been. However, they don’t seem insane at all, given this understanding of Queer:

I love the image of “territory” especially in the sense of thinking of how individuals wish to use this as a description of their identity. No wonder there is so much turmoil experienced! and, as a *something* of tension, it sems to make perfect sense that any dialogue surrounding it would include tension and divergent perspectives.
In fact the very notion of seeking Equality in such areas of Marriage Equality, and non-discrimination protections places LGBT Rights in direct conflict with Queer.
