The link below is to a post on Daily KOS about what Rick Santorum is now saying in regards to his ultra socially conservative positions, and specifically about same-sex marriage.

Oh no, not anymore. You see, he now says he hasn’t been talking about gay issues all that much. He isays, you see, his grandfather something something freedom:

The entire post is a god read, but I’d take a very different message from his statements than KOS is suggesting:

And, you know, this really has to be an insult to NOM and their extremely secretive and always terrified group of big money donors. They’ve spent lots of time and probably tons of money trying to woo politicians like Santorum and gain their favor so that anti-gay measures will succeed and it will bring NOM even more donors, and now he’s ruining it all.

I say, hogwash. Santorum is merely saying what he has to say right now so that it looks as if what he cares most about is the economy and freedom. He is exactly the type of candidate that NOM wants and needs. One who will say one thing publicly, and really want to do another thing. He isn’t alone either. Last year, the success of Tea Party (read: Conservative GOP) candidates, was all about the economy and small government, remember?  Too bad that now a year plus later, we see that in every state across the country as well as in the Federal Government, their focus has been on big government that keeps people from organizing, that forces government controlled actions on a woman’s reproductive health rights, and that marginalize LGBT people and other communities deemed as unacceptable.

He can even claim that he isn’t lying! Because being the good God-fearing Christian that he is, he would hate to be called a liar. Se that comment about “freedom”? That really means religious freedom, and that means keeping marriage safe from the homosexuals. That means supporting religious people who don’t want to sign marriage licenses, or make wedding cakes or otherwise provide services to gay people.
