Received this via email, and wanted to share:
Pittsburgh QUILTBAG meetings originally centered around the concept of a 5 year plan for the queer, lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual, ally, etc. community/communities in Pittsburgh. (See below for links to documents generated from these meetings).
In the past year many of us have been doing some really important work in many different areas. I’ve been thinking about ways to bring back this group in a way that seems more aligned with folks’ interests. Here’s what I’m thinking about.
A PIttsburgh QUILTBAG Salon
3-minute “What you’re up to” Open Mic
NetworkingThe timeline I had in mine was for the fall, when students are back in school. Say, October for LGBT History Month?
The location I had in mind was UCP in Oakland, the Irma Freemen Center for Imagination in Garfield, or the East Liberty Presbyterian Church. All of these spaces require a fee for use, so if anyone wants to step up to help plan raising funds for the space and food, please stand up!We gotta know where everyone is at–what you’ve been up to, what you need help with, what your dreams are, etc. And building towards big goals means building community one relationship at a time. Now, this Salon idea didn’t come out of nowhere. Consistently, there were requests made to have more “speed networking” like meetings, where folks could get to know each other better. Is this still something you’re interested in?
Get in touch!
There were also requests for communication to be more on the same level. Consider this the last newsletter type email. For folks who want to continue this conversation, either to help plan a networking event like the idea above, to share what you’ve been up to, to ask questions, etc:

I think QUILTBAG is one of the most exciting changes to the Pittsburgh LGBTQ community building and activism efforts! I believe this because QUILTBAG is grassroots! Because QUILTBAG is full of passion! Because QUILTBAG is full of honesty and real desire for a better community that includes everyone who is gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer and all those who choose not to fit into a label but who are a part of our whole community. Join the Quiltbag Facebook group! Get engaged in real change. You can make it happen.
