I’m very excited to share that I was informed this morning of being selected as a finalist for a Beacons of Equality award.
After evaluating hundreds of blogs advocating for LGBT rights in 2012, we would like to recognize these 15 sites as exceptional contributors to equality in 2012. Congratulations to the 15 finalists below that have been selected as Beacons of Equality for 2012.
A number of the other finalists are the top well known LGBTQ bloggers such as Pam’s House Blend, Joe.My.God, and Signorile. To have my blog considered among these others is an immense honor and validation for the hard work I put in to thomascwaters.com. Being a finalist has the opportunity to bring thousands of new readers to the blog. And if any blogger is honest, it is all about the readers. No one has a need to blog if no one is reading.
They are awarding three top prizes, which may be hard to get given the competition, but I think with my reader’s help it could happen. Fortunately, I have a loyal following as well as a stream of new readers all the time. Google stats show that a large percentage of my readers have visited over 100 times. That says to me that you get something from the blog and you keep coming back. Thank you!
The email I received included this:
We were especially impressed with your firm stance against bigotry in American institutions. This recognition is our way to thank you for everything that you have done to help advance LGBT rights in society.
