Received this via email from Keystone Equality. There are events planned all week across Pennsylvania to support Marriage Equality, and we need you to be involved! In addition to what is listed, there is also the event tonight, at First United Methodist Church, which I already wrote about.

While public gatherings will most likely have no effect upon the Supreme Court’s decision, these gatherings are crucially important for another reason. THey help demonstrate to the larger community, that there is much grass roots support for ending the discrimination against same-sex couples. These events help tell the story of the discrimination and call on others to join us in bringing this inequity to an end.

We will not achieve Marriage Equality in PA by the SCOTUS decision to be handed down later this year. We will end this discrimination in our state by continuing to build a coalition of individuals who demand that everyone is treated equally.

Starting tomorrow, on March 26-27, the Supreme Court will hear arguments about Marriage Equality in the Prop 8 and DOMA
cases.  Pennsylvanians will be holding rallies and vigils across the state to make sure the Justices see the widespread support for equality. We need BIG turnouts. Please join Keystone Progress, and event organizers Marriage Equality for PA and Equality PA at the following events:

Events are planned in:
Philadelphia (Monday, 3/25, 5:00 PM)
Harrisburg (Tuesday, 3/26, 4:30 PM)
Erie (Tuesday, 3/26, 7:00 PM)
Scranton (Tuesday, 3/26, 7:00 PM)
Pittsburgh (Wednesday, 3/27, 7:00 PM)

Can you join us at an event in your part of the state?

Yes, I can make it! Show me the details.

No, not this time, but I want to support the fight for LGBT civil rights in PA

This stuff matters. The Supreme Court Justices don’t live in a vacuum. They watch election results, read the papers, and watch TV. That means we have a job to do — make them see us.

Anti-gay organizers from the National Organization for Marriage are planning their own events. We outnumber them in the polls. Now we have to outnumber them in the streets.

Can you join us at one of these events?

Yes, I’ll be there!

No, not this time.

In Solidarity,

Michael Morrill
Keystone Progress Executive Director
