The linked text comes from Politics USA, a liberal site, but these claims come from other media sources. It appears that Republicans created the edited emails which are the base evidence for a Benghazi scandal.

Republicans also provided what they said was a quote from an email written by State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland. The Republican version quotes Nuland discussing, “The penultimate point is a paragraph talking about all the previous warnings provided by the Agency CIA about al-Qaeda’s presence and activities of al-Qaeda.”The actual email from Nuland says: “The penultimate point could be abused by members to beat the State Department for not paying attention to Agency warnings.”Sure, this is hardly a surprise, but there is a vast difference between suspecting something and having it established as fact. It’s worth noting, because it matters that Republicans were the lying leak.

The Republicans are also responsible for the IRS controversy as well.  The head of the IRS at the time of the controversy was a Bush appointee who was held over by Obama. policies and procedures as well as staff levels and funding for the IRS were all a result of eight years under a Republican leadership. While the acting director has resigned, he had only been in the position for a few months, and was a long term civil servant, not a political appointment.

I first wondered why Obama hadn’t replaced the earlier director, but think about it- how many Obama appointments are still being held up by the GOP in the Senate? Failures of government agencies that are lower in the structure of the government are the result of how agencies and departments have deteriorated over the past 12-14 years.

The country doesn’t have an Obama problem, and I wouldn’t even say we have a GOP problem. The problem is that we have a political system which is constantly adversarial and never in governing mode. Governing requires that we are all working for the greater good of the country despite our differences.

Obama has been criticized for not being more partisan and continuing to try and work with Republicans, yet his behavior is exactly the type of action we need to see but coming from both sides.
