Sue Kerr’s blog, Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents is celebrating a 10 year anniversary which is a pretty cool feat for a LGBTQ blog. Sue is assertive, forthcoming, opinionated, thoughtful… and willing to say things others won’t. She and I sometimes see things alike and sometimes differently and from my perspective that’s what bloggers ought to do- bring different viewpoints and perspectives out for dialogue. In her own way, and a very important way, Sue has helped not only the local LGBTQ community grow and thrive, but her posts reach far and wide impacting many everywhere. And without a doubt, Western PA has a more engaged community because of her efforts.
Recently another long term blogger, Pam Spaulding who writes Pam’s House Blend announced that she is closing down her blog after nine years. Prolific, thoughtful and demanding bloggers like Pam and Sue have created the world where a blog like mine can thrive and grow. (I’ve been at this for five years) The loss of Pam;s House Blend is huge, and fortunately, we still have blogs, like Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents doing hard and important work.
So, thomascwaters.com is pleased to say, “Congrats” to Sue on her blogging longevity, and “Happy Anniversary”!
What prompted me to mention this however, was I noticed this very cool little widget on Sue’s blog, called “Pitch In.” By clicking the button, you can make a donation to the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh as a way to celebrate the Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents Anniversary! What a totally cool idea. Take a look, and drop a few bucks for a very important organization within the Pittsburgh LGBTQ community. It is your Center- please help support it.
