It is hard to turn around and not see or hear people talking about the upcoming US Supreme Court hearing of two same-sex marriage cases. The importance of this can not be overstated. Yet, the phrase, Full Equality has been thrown around a bit too casually, but most everyone, perhaps including myself. The linked story below, while it is unconfirmed, reminds up that Full Equality is still a goal far from where we are right now.

One way to think about the story below is to focus on the gruesomeness of it. Another is to see how Religious Fundamentalism shapes and fuels hatred of those who are different. But the point I want to stress is that LGBTQ Rights are about all LGBTQ or perceived individuals everywhere. We must no longer see one subgroups rights as if they are unconnected from another. And the achievement of some subset of rights is a victory, but still within a struggle that must continue until all are free to be who they are.

A gay man was allegedly stoned to death as punishment for homosexuality, a gay Muslim group has said Saturday.  According to Somali Gay Community, the young man, Mohamed Ali Baashi ,18, was buried in a hole up to his chest and then pelted with rocks by members of the Al Qaeda link group Al Shabaab on Friday, March 15, in Barawe, about 50 miles from the capital, Mogadishu.

We stand to make a major victory in the US Supreme Court, and if that materializes we need to use the power of that victory to keep pushing for respect, safety, and equality for all LGBTQ’s everywhere.
