As if the GOP Party Platform wasn’t enough, some LGBT persons feel they can still support the GOP’s presidential candidate and his running mate. Many young folks Joe’s age simply get caught up in the club scene, yet Joe was truly a mover and a shaker. He was smart, pleasant, handsome, successful and a real inspiration. As a Facebook friend, I sometines noticed whatever was going on for him, and often something he would post would touch me deeply. In that indirect way, he always reminded me to continue to try and do my part to make the world a better place. I valued his openness and honesty, and I will surely miss him.
The biggest issue for the fallacy of a third party candidate during a presidential election is the failure to remember, that we the people don’t really elect our president. The Electoral College does that, and for a third party candidate to get enoug votes to win the college is, well… Impossible. If anyone wants to argue with that, feel free. I’ll happily read your rationale. And I’ll admit I’m wrong, if I am. But I’m not.
So, we too often fail to recognize our similarity with the average Union worker, and turn a blind eye to the way they are still fighting for full equality and fairness. Like women, immigrants and minorities, laborers have been under fierce attack too. Surprisingly the tactics used to steal fairness from workers are the same as those used to deny us full equality.
Today marks my official resignation from the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh Board of Directors. I have contemplated the resignation for a full year, and back in June officially announced my decision, and set the date of resignation as today. This date was selected to align with the last day of our ARSP volunteer’s placement with Delta.
