Keystone Progress is pleased to announce the release of the 2011 General Election Edition of the Pennsylvania Progressive Voters Guide. The Voters Guide is a compilation of the endorsements and recommendations of progressive organizations across the state. We have included 29 groups, who have made endorsements statewide and in 18 counties. Please note that Keystone Progress does not endorse. Can I continue to support Allyson Schwartz in the PA Governor race? I’m not sure. I’ve wanted to support her from the very beginning, but her recent attack ads were possibly the last straw for me. Attack ads don’t increase voter turnout nor do they help undecideds pick you as their candidate. Brad also seems to be on top of understanding LGBTQ issues in a big way. While Marriage Equality seems to be the trendy issue of the day, the reality is that our state is way behind others in that we don’t even offer state-wide non-discrimination protections. These protections, hate crimes legislation, anti-bullying protections- all of these need to be put in place before Marriage can be fully meaningful here in Pennsylvania.
But the Religious Fundamentalists are not a joke, and the LGBTQ community needs to consider seriously what their opposition may mean for us. It should not slow us down as we seek full equality, but we recognize the lengths they will go to to stop us from having fairness and equality.
Either way you look at it however is scary for a secularist. Either Jesus wins, and America has it’s own taliban of the Christianist type. Or Romney wins and a cult gains control of our whole country. America becomes like the Vatican city state, except that the Church of the LatterDay Saints has a much bigger coverage.
the PA Voter Coalition are organizing volunteers to serve as election protection monitors. The coalition has developed a list of over 50 voting precincts where problems may occur, however because of the confusion surrounding the Voter ID law, almost any polling place could experience issues.
The biggest issue for the fallacy of a third party candidate during a presidential election is the failure to remember, that we the people don’t really elect our president. The Electoral College does that, and for a third party candidate to get enoug votes to win the college is, well… Impossible. If anyone wants to argue with that, feel free. I’ll happily read your rationale. And I’ll admit I’m wrong, if I am. But I’m not.
