Schools of Pharmacy are accredited on a regular basis, and tools are needed gather and present curricular information for that process. However, this data can be leveraged in a variety of ways to assist a school at improving their curriculum and learning experiences.
The PittPharmacy Mapping database was created as a tool to generate reports needed meet accreditation standards.
Use case 1: Develop a tool that allows for ongoing data collection and revision such that these processes can be accurate, efficient and less time-consuming during preparation for accreditation.
Use case 2: To answer student requests for course data/syllabus to be provided in systematic and standardized way, develops tool that allows course coordinators to develop and yearly update their syllabus, while exporting that in a standardized PDF format.
A Syllabus Builder Web apples developed as a way to meet the second use case as well as continually capturing the needed data for the first use case. Once curricular/content began to recaptured into a database variety of other uses became clear:

- Planning for academic term/year
- Faculty and resource planning
- Student workload assessment across the semester
Database Structure
The database contains about 50 tables, including join tables, over 400 fields of data, and 2400 records across these tables.
