The LGBT movement has been making some strides forward, even if at times they seem far too few and far too little. Still it all has the Religious Right up in arms and vowing to turn it all around. Is that the Pennsylvania you want to live in?
The primary thing that stops movement on protections like this is a lack of knowledge, or ignorance. By giving voice to the realities of the benefits of non-discrimination to the community at large, fair-minded people overwhelmingly support non-discrimination.
First, we have to come to terms with what we really want as progressives? If the answer is to vote for the most progressive candidates we can find in the Primary, we may vote one way. Joe Hoeffel’s postions are clearly very progressive and he is clearly a real friend the the LGBT community, but what has he actually done for LGBT rights? What can he list as his accomplishments? Where are the examples/accomplishments of his leadership on these issues?
