The story is pretty much all over the place- bloggers reading into Gibb’s statement that DADT repeal won’t happen this year, and that is pretty disturbing to be sure. I have a few other concerns  as well that I want to write about.

It isn’t clear to me why Obama is the focus of all of our attention on this issue. It is clear to me that he is not a strong supporter of our issues, so why are we still waiting for him to act? Why aren’t we shifting our efforts to the House and the Senate. That is where the repeal has to happen, right?

The other thing that bothers me is the timing of all of this. We need to be building support for Democrats now more than ever before, so that we don’t lose too much in November. On the one hand, I don’t think we should be backing off and accepting this lack of movement on our issues, and on the other hand, I don’t want to see us not turn out to vote come November.

What do you think ought to be the next moves for DADT?

AMERICAblog Gay: Gibbs appears to confirm repeal of DADT won’t happen this year, despite SOTU promise from Obama.
