I’ll never forget his honesty with me- that he didn’t know anything about working with a gay client, but that people are just people. Who knows what his religious views were, because they didn’t matter. They didn’t come into the discussion. He could have been opposed to gay people for all I knew, but he placed my need before his own belief system.

I’m very pleased with how the investigation has been proceeding and the involvement of councilman Patrick Dowd has been a tremendous help. But also, the Zone 5 police commander and others there has been great.

Pittsburgh’s Citizen Police Academy
According to Dowd, involvement in this program, not only teaches citizens about the police, but possibly more importantly, teaches the police about real citizens, and helps the police learn more about how to best serve the people of Pittsburgh.
