The link below is to On Top magazine, andy a story about Zach Wahl’s being on the Ellen Show, where she called him a hero.

In an appearance Thursday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, host Ellen DeGeneres thanked Zach Wahls for speaking out in support of gay marriage.

Wahls is the 19-year-old University of Iowa student who defended his two-mom family at an Iowa House hearing considering a proposed measure that would repeal the state’s gay marriage law by defining marriage as a heterosexual union in the Iowa Constitution.

I both agree with Ellen (I’m sure she will be thrilled to know that), but hesitate with the word, “hero,” if it suggests someone who is “more than” what everyone has to offer. What he demonstrates for me, is that we each, when we speak out and share our story, can be a hero and inspire others. I was sold, and he was my hero when I first saw the Youtube video of him speaking before the Iowa State House.

Zach will be here in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Pride Advocacy Rally on June 3rd, on the steps to the City County Building.
