A really wonderful and remarkable thing is happening in Greensburg this Saturday: their annual holiday parade! If that doesn’t really sound so remarkable, consider this. For the first time ever, the Greensburg PFLAG, Community Safe Zone project, and the Westmoreland LGBTQ Interfaith Network will be marching in the parade officially!

I believe this is an awesome effort for the visibility for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and allied supporters in Western PA, and I want to encourage you to take some time out of your weekend to come over and support this effort! Here is the info:

The year CSZ, PFLAG Greensburg and the Westmoreland LGBTQ Interfaith Network will be part of the annual Greensburg Holiday Parade — taking place this Saturday at noon.

This will be the first time that the Westmoreland LGBTQ and Allied community will be official participants in the parade and we want to make sure we’re a big, joyful presense. Kathy Bold, president of the PFLAG Greensburg chapter, writes:
We are line-up number 83. Parade starts at 12:00 noon.
Line-up location is the corner of Main St. and Kenneth St. – just down from the YWCA. But you can’t go up Main St. They suggest you follow Maple Ave. You might want to park on Maple or Kenneth St. and walk over as there are road blocks. Another suggestion is to go Pennsylvania Ave. to O’Hara St. (right by YWCA).
We are to walk up the hill and then down the hill – the whole way past City Hall.

We’ll be handing out rainbow-striped candy canes to the crowd (naturally) with info about PFLAG and the Interfaith Network attached. Suggested dress is holiday casual in red and green.

This is a great opportunity to be a visual part of the Greensburg community.

Major congratulations to everyone involved! annula
