I’ve posted before about the Mayors for Marriage Equality, an effort of the Freedom to Marry organization. When this was first introduced, it appeared that the Erie PA mayor had signed on, and then, his name was no longer on the list. A petition has been created on change.org as a way for folks to encourage the mayor to sign on and stay on the list, joining a number of other Pennsylvaniaz mayors.
From the petition:
More than 150 mayors from across the country have joined the Mayors for the Freedom to Marry Coalition. Six mayors from Pennsylvania are listed.
Erie’s mayor Joe Sinnott had been listed, but there had been a miscommunication when he had originally been placed on the page.
The Mayors of Doylestown, Easton, Macungie, and Reading have joined the Mayors of Bethlehem and Philadelphia in supporting full civil marriage rights for the LGBT community.
This is something that we can work on together that will advance our community!
Please urge Mayor Joe Sinnott to sign on to join the Mayors for the Freedom Coalition by signing this petition and sharing it with your friends, families and neighbors.
Thanks for including this, and thanks for signing! Is there a similar petition for Pittsburgh’s mayor? Would love to return the favor and help get your mayor on board as well!
Stay tuned.
