During the last five years as a City Councilman in Harrisburg, I have come to realize that Harrisburg’s issues are not just Harrisburg’s. They are many of the same concerns that every city, town and borough in Pennsylvania are going through. Crumbling infrastructure, increasing costs for services and less revenue. But most troubling is the lack of help from the Commonwealth.

Our municipalities do not have the freedom they need to take care of their people. They are under the thumb of the Governor and the Legislature, which do not give them the ability to raise their own revenues and gives them unworkable cookie-cutter solutions to their financial concerns. This affects the health, safety and welfare of the 12.7 million Pennsylvanians that depend on local government for police, fire and other vital services.

Because I have fought for the people of Harrisburg against Governor Corbett and the Legislature in making sure that the people of my city are fairly treated, I am confident I can take on this fight for the people of our state. That is why I am running for Lieutenant Governor.

The Lieutenant Governor is the Chair of the Local Government Commission, which has the ability to make significant changes in how the State treats its municipalities. I want to give our cities, towns and boroughs the tools they need to be self-sufficient and make decisions for themselves and not have to ask the Governor and the Legislature permission to take action.

Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor is also the Chair of the Governor’s Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission. Tom Corbett sold out our Commonwealth and our environment. We need to completely fix what has been done so far with regard to this vital issue for our State’s health and welfare. As Chair of the Commission, I can do that.

In this campaign, I will speak out on other vital issues including providing a quality public education no matter what zip code you live in, establishing good paying jobs and not losing the ones we have in the State liquor stores and the Lottery, achieving marriage equailty, stopping the war on women and many other  important concerns.

I will travel to every county. I will listen to you and I will advocate for you. Please check out my websitefollow me on Twitterlike me on Facebook. I also need your donations and your commitment to volunteerClick here to donate right now.

The people of Pennsylvania deserve a better government than they have. I intend to give it to them.
