“Bayard Rustin probably did more than any one individual to put the March on Washington together. It is a shame and a disgrace that he has not received the recognition he deserves. The only reason he failed to receive that recognition is because he was gay. He was openly gay and never tried to hide it,” Congressman John Lewis told FENUXE during a recent interview.

For me, few activists are as inspirational as Bayard Rustin, and I believe todays LGBTQ movement, must look towards individuals such as Rustin, if we are going to successfully navigate the next steps towards real respect, and equality. So, I’m please to suggest, as we move through Black History Month, there is no better day than today for you to stop and learn about this great figure.
