Rayden Sorock, with the help of others organized a highly successful community meeting that he nicknamed “QUILTBAG.” The meeting gathered a diverse mix of individuals and representatives from local LTBTQ organizations for a thought provoking, and energized session discussing a five year plan for Queer Pittsburgh. My posts about the first meeting are here, and here. And here are the notes captured at the first meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for this Saturday, 2-4PM at the East Liberty Public. RSVP Rayden if you plan to attend. (Rayden Sorock <rsorock@coropittsburgh.org>)
I was so impressed by the great mix of people at the first meeting! I hope that continues. I was also impressed at the passion and enthusiasm many young folks! While I have great faith that the established LGBT organizations do great work, it is also exciting to see women and men who may not feel engaged with those groups bring ideas to the table and want to play a role in moving our collective communities forward.
Thanks, Thomas! While I can’t take all the credit for QUILTBAG I think it’s great to see it everywhere I turn these days!
