Every gay, lesbian, bi, trans and queer person must care because Bradley Manning is you and me. He is a small person who believes things can be better and wrongs can be righted with the truth. He is a person attacking the Patriarchy which is about “power over others” and believing that the ends justify the means no matter who is harmed.

I both agree with him, and disagree, and illustrate in this post why the term “bigot” can and should be applied and why to label some on the Far Religious Right.
I am convinced that Gays and Lesbians will continue to fail to support Manning since his efforts appear as an attack on a Government and a President whom we (as a LGBT community) want to believe is on our side. We need so much from this President and this Government, and so much is hanging in the scales right now as we await the US Supreme Court decisions on same-sex marriage. How can we, as a group hope for affirmation from this very government which has been so wrong as illustrated in these leaks? That is a real conundrum.

And despite how he is characterized in those swiftboat-like ads, he is a consensus builder and coalition builder.

In the coming weeks, pro-equality Senators and Representatives will introduce bills prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity for the State of Pennsylvania.
