Will The Faith Community Deliver Equality?

I think that the mainstream Faith community will play a major role in today’s civil rights movement for LGBT Equality, and I believe people like Pastor Totty is at the lead. Here’s why I think she is a tremendous role model and leader in the fight for equality, and why I think the mainstream Faith community is so important.

Pennsylvania GOP Attacks Wonen’s Health

Urgent Action Needed! Some of our legislators in the Pennsylvania Senate have decided that they, too, would like to score political points at the expense of Pennsylvania women, and they are moving fast to impose even greater restrictions on access to abortion. There are two crucial votes on women’s health TODAY, MONDAY MAY 23RD and it is CRITICAL that we make our voices heard immediately! We need you to WRITE TO STATE SENATORS and tell[Read More…]

Democracy Is More Than Having the Right to Vote

The Good As You blog, is one of my favorite reads, and Jeremy is a wonderful blogger. I agree in general with his post that is summarized in this line (emphasis mine): If gay rights opponents have the nerve to turn our shared governing documents into weaponry and to so crudely deny a rich and vibrant population sect of deserved fairness, then they at least need to have enough fortitude to own their truths. “Let[Read More…]

LGBT Equality in PA: Far from a reality

Today is Blog for Equality Day, a blog swarm sponsored by Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents. Her post for the day, has important links, so check it out. A number of Pittsburgh bloggers are participating, each with their own perspective on the issue of LGBT Equality. For my part, I want to focus on two points: 1) The PA Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment PA is one of a handful off states looking to enact an anti-gay marriage amendment.[Read More…]

Will Conservatives Push Us Back in the Closet?

The linked article is about Britain and their conservative Prime Minister, David Cameron, but the base notion here is the same in the US. It isn’t our existence that causes the uproar against the queers, it is our visibility and our desire for equality. If we were[Read More…]

Kansas Gay Sex Ban to Stay on the Books

The women and men I worry most about however, are not these types of politicians, but those who live in the big cities in progressive areas, who fail to remember that losing our rights is just as close as full equality. We can not let up or fail to fight on all fronts, lest we lose any rights anywhere.

Does Dee’s Discriminate?

Gov’t Drops Defense Of Marriage Act Defense

The good news, is we have a president who is now acting like many thought he would to support fairness and equal treatment under the law for all people, including gays and lesbians. The bad news (or maybe it will be good news?) is that same-sex marriage will be a central issue in the next national elections of 2012.
