Especially as I sit in QUILTBAG meetings, I realize that this younger generation of activists have all the right motivations and passion, but in many ways are re-inventing the wheel all over, sometimes spinning their wheels. Got me wondering if there were any great boks out there to help articulate the lessons learned from ACT UP or other grass roots movements.
I love this time of year where I can look back over the past year and see what it means based on what has happened on the blog. PA HB 934 is a discriminatory, unnecessary, and costly effort that will limit access to vote by many Pennsylvanians, and now it has passed out of the Senate Government committee. Today, the PA Senate is due to take up HB 934, a Voter ID bill which many claim is a big government program looking to solve a problem that doesn’t exist. Those on the left accuse Republican led efforts in a number of states of being a push to repress the vote in next year’s Presidential election.
