Separation of Church and State

Update: The charges seem to be 6 acts of child molestation (http://sfist.com/2011/01/03/pastor_who_backed_prop_8_held_on_se.php) The link below is to the Advocate.com, and a short post about a pastor accused of  child molestation who is now being held in a Sacramento County jail. On first read, I thought the tone of the piece was to fault the church board for supporting the pastor, but after reading it a few times, I’m not sure about that anymore. Unfortunately, the[Read More…]

I Told You So

Update 8:10 PM This is from David Badash: At this afternoon’s GOP debate, during which five candidates are vying to be elected GOP Chair, the second question, after the obligatory, “What would you focus on?,” came from a representative of the Susan B. Anthony List, Marjorie Dannenfelser, who said that the GOP should not have “some sort of truce on social issues.” She claimed that 80% of Republicans support traditional marriage, and added, “certain Republican elites try to[Read More…]

Pennsylvania To Get Gay Marriage Right After Alabama!

Pennsylvania To Get Gay Marriage Right After Alabama!

Bills like this are going to be showing up all over the place in a concerted and strategized way, supported by big money and groups like the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Because of the recent wins for Marriage Equality on all fronts, they are stepping up there efforts to get anti-gay legislation on the books in as many states as they can, and get that legislation as deep into the constitution as they can get it.

God gene – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The God gene hypothesis proposes that human beings inherit a set of genes that predisposes them towards spiritual or mystic experiences. The idea has been postulated by geneticist Dean Hamer, the director of the Gene Structure and Regulation Unit at the U.S. National Cancer Institute, who has written a book on the subject titled, The God Gene: How Faith is Hardwired into our Genes. Sarah Palin has taken to assailing Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity initiative on her reality show and elsewhere, while former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, the Republican Party’s resident authority on obesity and a potential Palin rival, has been defending it from Palin’s salvos.[Read More…]

I feel old when…

Man hits teen over phone dispute on plane. I feel old when I read stories like this. I have to accept that I have turned into a grown up, and even though I’m in my 50’s, I’d like to believe I’m a rebellious youth. But I’m not. I’m like my parent- telling the kids they better follow the rules! The other way to think about this, is to recognize just how utterly discourteous and abrasive[Read More…]
