Hawaii Gov Says No To Equality

Corbett has already made clear that once elected he will push for a constitutional amendment in the PA constitution that will make marriage as being only between one man and one woman, and the general consensus is that if he wins, the Republicans will also win the House, and he will have little trouble getting the constitutional amendment through both the Senate and House quickly, setting the stage for a battle at the ballot box in 2 years.

Can You Change Everything for the LGBT Community?

Charelene can take her story to the President, what is stopping you (or anyone??) from telling your own story? If we all follow that example, it certainly will change everything for the LGBT community.

The Prop 8 Trial: What’s Next

The right to fully recognized civil marriage stands as the single most significant symbol of the way gays and lesbians are treated as second class citizens. Every way that this is articulated helps move all LGBT issues forward by focusing the attention on that central question: does the majority of voters have a right to restrict any other group of people to second class and unequal status?

A PA Constitutional Convention Scares Me

But what about a constitutional convention? The only way that all of the voters get the same level of voice is if the convention included 100% of the voters. Which would be impossible. So, by the very nature of the convention, some people do not have a voice while others get to make decisions that impact those who have been silenced.

Rohrer Supporters to Push Corbett to the Right

Democrats will be utterly crazy if they express any difficulty aligning behind Dan Onorato, especially those who seek more a progressive social agenda. Because between Onorato and Corbett, they have an enormous amount to lose in these areas if Corbett is elected.

Holding Out for a Hero

Dan Onorato never ran as a hero. He ran as a candidate with experience managing a large county government and helping that county do well through very tough times. In fact, I never heard Dan apply any labels to himself except “Democrat,” even those his opposition tried to attach myriad labels such as

Tea Party: Take Away The Peoples’ Right to vote

As you head to the polls today (if you live in Pennsylvania at least), think about your vote very carefully. While there is a lot of frustration at Washington DC, the force trying to capitalize on that frustration has been the Tea Party movement. Fueled mostly by lies about Health Care Reform and a desire for lower taxes, the Tea Party movement  has been a mixture of astro-turf, raw frustration, and manipulation. Deemed “astro-turf” because[Read More…]

Anthony Williams and the LGBT Vote

Is he suggesting the majority of LGBT issues have been adequately addressed, but this is one of the few that haven’t been sufficiently addressed? That is how it reads to me. I’d be interested too, to hear how he feels other states have handled this issue.

What Do You Need To Cast Your Vote?

I think however, that a question is needed: what is it that you need if you are one of those undecided or folks who aren’t yet sure who you will vote for? What do you need to make sure you cast a ballot as opposed to being one of the many who don’t turn out at the polls?

Is Hoeffel Without Any Chance To Win?

Dan Onorato has the best chance to beat Tom Corbett in the Fall, and that is essential for any progressive issue important to Pennsylvanian. Jack Wagner is the least gay friendly of the four candidates and that makes him the worst choice of the democratic candidates.
