One of the things I liked about this action was the non-political aspect of it. Our political system isn’t working for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, and queers. We can’t give up on it entirely- we must stay engaged and work for change within it. but we also need to seek out other avenues for change.
When fear rules, we lose. When the only voices heard by elected officials are those spreading exaggerations, lies or statements of faith, we lose. But we win, when the statements of facts are heard. Add your voice to the growing sound of truth and real facts.

Republicans don’t have to become gay friendly to do this either. They can still oppose all other gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans rights, leaving the community still disempowered and victimized by our culture and political system.
But no matter how we perceive the level of leadership out there, we already have the tools we need to make progress. We do that, by each of us stepping up to the plate and making the time and energy to write letters, and make visits with our elected officials.

Really wonderful read to understand issues surrounding transgender people. Respecting and calling for the inclusion of transfolk in any GLBTQ rights actions is something I have cared about for many years. Probably 15 Â or more years ago, a FTM transman emailed me after reading something I had written in a Usenet newsgroup.
