The State of the Blog (was:Group protests Notre Dame)

One of the things I liked about this action was the non-political aspect of it. Our political system isn’t working for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, and queers. We can’t give up on it entirely- we must stay engaged and work for change within it. but we also need to seek out other avenues for change.

Does Prejudice Seek Truth?

When fear rules, we lose. When the only voices heard by elected officials are those spreading exaggerations, lies or statements of faith, we lose. But we win, when the statements of facts are heard. Add your voice to the growing sound of truth and real facts.

Could Republicans Steal the GLBTQ Vote or Destroy Any Chance of a GLBTQ Coalition?

Republicans don’t have to become gay friendly to do this either. They can still oppose all other gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans rights, leaving the community still disempowered and victimized by our culture and political system.

Leadership and Moving the LGBT Agenda Forward.

But no matter how we perceive the level of leadership out there, we already have the tools we need to make progress. We do that, by each of us stepping up to the plate and making the time and energy to write letters, and make visits with our elected officials.

Let’s Get Honest About the March on Washington

The linked blog post is by someone I follow on Twitter, and if you have been reading my blog, you won’t be surprised that I’m not very enthusiastic about the timing of the National March on Washington.  Here is my reply to his blog post: Your blog post typifies what is so wrong about the timing and priorities for the March. “We need a National front…” and you honestly believe that a march will accomplish[Read More…]

The Bible is Not About Beating LGBT People Up

Michael Jones is one of my favorite bloggers, and today writes about the  HRC project, “Out in Scripture.” Here is a quote from the book’s editor: As editor Sidney Fowler said, ‘The Bible is not about beating you up, but lifting us all up.  It includes the seeds of liberation and justice.’ Be prepared to be transformed as well.” It’s kind of like a week-by-week look at the Bible with a lens on LGBT spirituality.[Read More…]

TransOhio Symposium shatters new ground for Midwest transpeople

Really wonderful read to understand issues surrounding transgender people. Respecting and calling for the inclusion of transfolk in any GLBTQ rights actions is something I have cared about for many years. Probably 15  or more years ago, a FTM transman emailed me after reading something I had written in a Usenet newsgroup. I hadn’t really said much, but still he thanked me because few people (at least in that newsgroup) would speak up for transfolk.[Read More…]

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell: Don’t Push It

The linked blogger decries that Obama is not taking action to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the failed policy introduced during the Clinton Administration. As much as I, like many believe this policy should be lifted, I’m not so sure that it is a bad thing to place it on the back burner at this time. If we look back at the genesis of DADT, it grew from Clinton’s campaign promise to create an equal[Read More…]

Cool Web Site

I found this cool web site and think you should check it out if you are of the belief that GLBTQ people belong on the inside of the children of God. I have added it to my blogroll as well as linking it here. http://straightnotnarrow.blogspot.com/
