The GOP advantage for 2014 could be the end of real democracy.

The GOP advantage for 2014 could be the end of real democracy.

No one, and I mean no one, is telling progressive voters that we need to ding in hard and start fighting and don’t stop fighting until the 2016 election is over. We need to see progressive wins in 2014 and a again in 2016, or we may just count our democracy as dead.

The rationale against gay parents is utter garbage.

The rationale against gay parents is utter garbage.

In their eyes, gay men and lesbian amen are monsters because they don’t look and act like men and women are supposed to look and act, and the fear associated with their inability to control this. In this case, Dutro and her boyfriend beat to death this young boy because they couldn’t control his gender expression.

What if the GOP wins big in 2014?

What if the GOP wins big in 2014?

LGBTQ Advocates need to stop celebrating judicial wins for Marriage Equality, and remember that same-sex marriage is just one of a number of agendas we need to see action upon. As a group, we fail to see the whole LGBTQ Rights when we are too focused on Marriage alone.

Two Battles for Marriage Equality: Why Michigan Matters.

Two Battles for Marriage Equality: Why Michigan Matters.

Like the Creationists, those who reject Marriage Equality because they believe “traditional marriage” is better for raising healthy children are being forced further and further into the fringe and their ideas seen as fallacious. This is essential so that a final legal/judicial ruling to grant Marriage Equality across the whole of the United States happens based on sound Science and a firm standing in the Constitution. Thoughts on the dying Fred Phelps

Thoughts on the dying Fred Phelps

But Phelp’s death wasn’t the really interesting element of the story, even though most have focused on that. Nate Phelps claims his Father was excommunicated from WBC, and in a vague statement addressing questions today, the Church is only saying that membership issues are private.

Pennsylvania, Marriage Equality, and Special Rights for the Religious.

In other words, those who oppose same-sex marriage better try and trick marriage equality proponents into thinking this is a win/win and get what they can now, because later they will most likely get less.

Preaching as Hate Speech

Preaching as Hate Speech

This pastor doesn’t intend to be so hateful (even as he is). Rather, his intention is to identify gays and lesbians as “accepting a lifestyle” in a very very Old Testament type of way. He is perpetuating a myth that isn’t based in any reality. That doesn’t keep it from being hate speech or harmful.
