Republicans don’t have to become gay friendly to do this either. They can still oppose all other gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans rights, leaving the community still disempowered and victimized by our culture and political system.

At a rally in York PA, PA candidate for governor, Dan Onorato announced his support for recognition of same-sex couples through civil unions.
The linked story is on the American Foundation for Equal Rights web site, and details an AP story. The Supreme Court was asked to halt the video dissemination of of coverage via delayed posting on YouTube, and today announced that it is blocking it for at least the first few days. But no matter how we perceive the level of leadership out there, we already have the tools we need to make progress. We do that, by each of us stepping up to the plate and making the time and energy to write letters, and make visits with our elected officials.
Faith and tradition are things that many will defend and protect even beyond reason. To mess around with someone’s understanding, especially when they feel pretty sure they know what it means, is to invite a defensiveness and promote an unwillingness to be open to other interpretations.

Steven Anderson has recently been in the news. As a pastor, he prays for Obama to die. The other day, Sirius XM radio host Michelangelo Signorile had him on the air, and the linked blog is about that exchange, and it includes a Youtube video.
