Leadership and Moving the LGBT Agenda Forward.

But no matter how we perceive the level of leadership out there, we already have the tools we need to make progress. We do that, by each of us stepping up to the plate and making the time and energy to write letters, and make visits with our elected officials.

Texas Church Sponsors Pro-Gay Christian Billboards

Texas Church Sponsors Pro-Gay Christian Billboards

Faith and tradition are things that many will defend and protect even beyond reason. To mess around with someone’s understanding, especially when they feel pretty sure they know what it means, is to invite a defensiveness and promote an unwillingness to be open to other interpretations.

Let’s Get Honest About the March on Washington

The linked blog post is by someone I follow on Twitter, and if you have been reading my blog, you won’t be surprised that I’m not very enthusiastic about the timing of the National March on Washington.  Here is my reply to his blog post: Your blog post typifies what is so wrong about the timing and priorities for the March. “We need a National front…” and you honestly believe that a march will accomplish[Read More…]

What is Murder?

Steven Anderson has recently been in the news. As a pastor, he prays for Obama to die. The other day, Sirius XM radio host Michelangelo Signorile had him on the air, and the linked blog is about that exchange, and it includes a Youtube video. What I found most intriguing about the exchange was the questioning about murder. According to Anderson, if someone assassinated the President, it wouldn’t be murder, but the legal abortion provider[Read More…]

TransOhio Symposium shatters new ground for Midwest transpeople

Really wonderful read to understand issues surrounding transgender people. Respecting and calling for the inclusion of transfolk in any GLBTQ rights actions is something I have cared about for many years. Probably 15  or more years ago, a FTM transman emailed me after reading something I had written in a Usenet newsgroup. I hadn’t really said much, but still he thanked me because few people (at least in that newsgroup) would speak up for transfolk.[Read More…]

A Homosexual Bishop?

The linked blog is called “Mystic Call” and the blogger. Carmen Rose is pretty spectacular in my book! I keep reading through her post to try and find a short passage to excerpt here, but trying to select one over another is proving difficult. This is a valued read for anyone, believer or non-believer. I want to draw attention to the comment by DrDave. I’l acknowledge that it is hard- for obviously both this guy[Read More…]

Gay Religion: news of religion and GLBT folks: Gays Step Up Efforts to Reverse Gay-as-Godless Stereotype

This blog and blog entry is a very good read. It uses the Barna Group survey data to explore the issue of religious gays and lesbians. I’ve been planning to write about the Barna Group report on thomascwaters.com– it is sitting half-done as a draft. Check this blog out below. Lesbians’ testimony shows church rift

Decided to post there, here on Queer Look at the Bible, but am thinking of it in reference to a comment made on my other blog, thomascwaters.com.  Bonnie talked about reconciliation and healing/ change from the inside. The linked article is a profound example of just that sort of action. Lesbians’ testimony shows church rift | clarionledger.com | The Clarion-Ledger.
