Will We Be Fighting For Our Very Lives?
Politicians like Santorum will now use that Tea Party momentum, but will have no problem being direct in his “values” messages. It is going to be a pretty bumpy ride.

So many activists are busy screaming about equality and equal rights, and that isn’t really a bad thing. But if we don’t do more to voice how our rights are connected the the founding and foundational documents of our states as well as our country, we may as well be screaming where no one can hear us. The very nature of everything we hold as Americans is up for grabs, if the constitutionality of laws doesn’t matter.
Ginny LaRoe, writing on Legal Pad offers further comment about the status of the Pro 8 Appeals case, currently before the Federal Ninth Circuit panel of judges. Here is my earlier recap/commentary on the state of the case. LaRoe writes about how a Washington DC ruling could offer the Californai panel direction in the question of if the Prop 8 proponents have standing. She writes: With the panel judges on the Prop 8 appeal so[Read More…]
Bills like this are going to be showing up all over the place in a concerted and strategized way, supported by big money and groups like the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Because of the recent wins for Marriage Equality on all fronts, they are stepping up there efforts to get anti-gay legislation on the books in as many states as they can, and get that legislation as deep into the constitution as they can get it.

But no one has really, until the SPLC, labeled the oppositions efforts as an agenda of hate.
People feel they have so little voice in government, and while I’m not entirely sure I agree with that, I do know that their vote is one way they see they can exercise their voice. So, people who were unhappy with the way government has worked- not necessarily the direction it was going- but the process and speed and ability to function- did what they could to make that change. They voted for the other guy, or they didn’t vote.
Dan Onorato who supports a fair tax that is aligned with what other states are charging. Dan Onorato is the right leader to work for the people of Pennsylvania, instead of Tom Corbett who is working for the big gas and oil companies.
Progress may then look a bit like a three ring circus or a juggler who is handling three balls in one hand, three knifes in the other, while attempting to balance some spinning plates, all at the same time. A balancing act of all of these elements is needed to get things from point A to point B, of the road to full equality.
It is hard to miss all of the polls predicting who will win the governor’s race in Pennsylvania. What the pollsters aren’t telling you is that the real bottom line is this: the winner will be 100% based on turnout. If Democrats turn out in reasonable numbers, Dan Onorato will win. If Democrats stay home, he won’t win. If Democrats stay home, the PA House will also go Republican, for the same reason, that a[Read More…]
