It may be that we have every right to demand full and unconditional acceptance and love from our parents. It may be also true that our parents don’t know that they have this to give us. The task may seem impossible to them. Activism isn’t only about giving voice to our demands, but it is also about giving individuals enough information to help them rise about their own ideas of the status quo.

Because of the recent wins for Marriage Equality on all fronts, they are stepping up there efforts to get anti-gay legislation on the books in as many states as they can, and get that legislation as deep into the constitution as they can get it.

My fear is that Republican leadership in both the House and the Senate won’t allow any pro-LGBT legislation to be introduced or out of committee, leaving it DOA from the get go. Time will tell.

I think there are some who do not feel they have an adequate voice within the larger LGBT community. It may be real or only perceived, but that doesn’t matter in some regard. These individuals feel as if the “Gay Community” in the broadest sense of what it is, doesn’t represent them, or give their voice and needs agency.

Anti-gay campaign fails in city council race

The attack is equating being gay itself as a disease, not with AIDS specifically, and making an insinuation about how gays invade and take over. This positions the conservative/ family values types as the victims and the invasive infection homosexuals as the perpetrators.
