Don’t Ask Don’t Tell: Don’t Push It

The linked blogger decries that Obama is not taking action to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the failed policy introduced during the Clinton Administration. As much as I, like many believe this policy should be lifted, I’m not so sure that it is a bad thing to place it on the back burner at this time. If we look back at the genesis of DADT, it grew from Clinton’s campaign promise to create an equal[Read More…]

Cool Web Site

I found this cool web site and think you should check it out if you are of the belief that GLBTQ people belong on the inside of the children of God. I have added it to my blogroll as well as linking it here. http://straightnotnarrow.blogspot.com/

Lectionary Reading for March 5, 2009

Waiting for the California Supreme Court Ruling on Prop 8 Gospel Mt 7:7-12 Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asked[Read More…]

Some Hope for the Catholic Church ?

I saw a post to Twitter about the Catholic Church and Dawrin’s theory of evolution. The twitterer is an evangelical- sometimes extreme- christian blog, where members can post. Everytime I start to wonder why I’m following it, something like this comes up and I am glad that I am. Now the blogger gets some of it right and some of it… not so much. While the blogger found the article on 2/27/09, telegraph.co.uk actually ran[Read More…]

Do Family Values Lead to Family Violence?

Wanted to post think link here, as so much of the arguments raised or discussed are biblical.  A long article well worth the time to read it. Matthew Herbst : Do Family Values Lead to Family Violence?: A consideration of the idea of family – Quodlibet Journal.

Do You Have Biblical Morals?

Unfortunately, they don’t give you the passages for each question, but the quiz is fun.  Take it twice.  Answer based on what you really feel is the right answer- how to act in each situation.  Then take again and answer the way you think the Bible directs.  See how alike or different these are. Do You Have Biblical Morals?.

The Interdependence Project

This is an odd entry for me, but one that I am very passionate about.  I found the Interdenpence Project podcast (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=286040275) quite a while ago, and have been a regular listener.  Focusing primarily on the Buddhist philisophical tradition, it is very spiritual, even though the grou isn’t understood as spiritual in nature.  Here is an interview with Ethan Nichterm who started the group. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fE8hvD54Lk&eurl=http://theidproject.com/press.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fE8hvD54Lk&eurl=http://theidproject.com/press.htm
