If Hoeffel has any real plans for how his lofty (albiet important) liberal social agenda will be made into concrete change if he were governor, he isn’t sharing them. Onorato on the other hand is willing to use government and the governing process to devise and implement plans that will best meet the needs of our state. Real plans, real leadership, for real growth for Pennsylvania.
The link below is an editorial from the Philly area, and expresses another reason  for Western PA to support Dan Onorato for governor. But what are the “take home” messages from what happened in Bloomfield (both the beating and the rally), and how do we see continuing benefits for our diverse community and the city as a whole? So here are my take home messages.
There is a slogan you hear in 12 step groups- “you are only as sick as your secrets.” Come out and quit living a double life of lies. Your secrets are killing us, as well as you.
It is especially important for LGBTQ Americans to take notice of this. We are already treated as second class citizens, and historically, we have moved through periods of history where the very act of loving another was a crime. In the not too distant past, some far right conservatives wanted to round up all the gays and put them in camps as a way to protect others from AIDS.
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is really not that at all. They would be more accurate, if they renamed themselves, the National Organization against GLBT folks, but NOAGLBTF is much harder to get out of your mouth quickly.
You have such an amazing voice to your blog that is so powerful and important, except when it is connected to a personal vendetta.
agner points out (to the far right readers of the questionnaire) that he voted for the states DOMA. It is like he is saying, “I might be a democrat, but I’ve been on your side against gay marriage.” Wagner is not the only democrat who is not fully supportive of same-sex marriage, but he is the only one who wanted to highlight his connection to the far right so vividly.
While some Democrats are trying to get back at Specter for having been a Republican in the past, are we setting up an opportunity for a real and dangerous Republican to take control?
